Flavio Dalla Vecchia in: Rivista Biblica LIV/2006 "Every student of Second Temple Judaism will be grateful for this commentary. On philological and textual issues, there is no more reliable guide than Fitzmayer. He has provided scholars with a solid base for future work. Many questions remain open regarding date, provenance, literary genre, and composition. But Fitzmayer's commentary will be a primary reference work on Tobit for scholars who wish to ponder these issues."
John J. Collins in: Journal of Near Eastern Studies 4/2005 "... if you want a careful and up-to-date commentary on the ancient witness to the Book of Tobit from a authoritative scholar, this volume will fit the bill perfectly."
B. Ego in: ZAW 2004
